China pledges $40 bln to IMF, vies for greater global presence

At the recent G20 summit in England, China promised $40 bln to IMF’s total $750 bln rescue package. China’s premiere business magazine Caijing points out this sum, 5.3 percent of the entire $750 billion pledged, is well above China’s 3.8 voting share in the IMF. This has left some wondering if China is stepping up to the global economic plate.
