The suicide of former president Roh Moo-hyun last week has spurred growing unrest and criticism of the current Lee administration. A rally and vigil held for Roh late Saturday was met with close to 20,000 police ready to round up those protesting against president Lee Myung-bak. Protesters are angry at the Lee administration for harassing Roh in a messy corruption scandal. Some see the corruption investigation against Roh as politically motivated, and analysts have been predicting his death might garner support for his more liberal policies, fundamentally opposite to Lee’s conservative ones.
